Player Not Working

I have a MD6451BLK Compact disc player that just quit working. (no power on indication and of course ne spiing of disc.) New batteries and a power supply does not help the problems.  This thing is new (used a couple times) Is this a piece of junk or can it be salvaged? My friend is having the same problem with his same model player also. Help
