Incoming Text Messages

How can I stop my text messages from filling up so soon. I want to set it so they drop off instead of me always having to delete my inbox before i can receive more messages?

The Motorola W418g is a very basic phone.  The only way to delete old text is to do it manually.  An auto delete function is not available with this product.
