I received the same email today.  Searching the paypal site I found this: How do I know if an email is really from PayPal? If you think you received a fake PayPal email or have come across a fake (spoof) PayPal website, please report it to us immediately.

How to identify fake emails:

  • Emails from PayPal will always address you by your first and last names or by your business name. We never say things like "Dear user" or "Hello PayPal member."
  • Our emails don’t link directly to pages that ask you to enter sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, and national identification or Social Security numbers.
I went back and reviewed the email I received and noticed that it referred to my name as "Hello {my email address}, You authorized a payment of $199.79 USD to PINZOO Instant PIN "   Also, when I hover the mouse over the links it does not have a paypal address of where it will direct me if I click on it... its a strange web address.  Additionally, the email listed to contact is "[email protected]" but there is no "pinsupport.com" that I have been able to find.  I hope this is helpful.  I'd notify pay pal (so they can take action to shut them down) and permanently delete the email.  Be careful not to click on any links or enter any information. Also, one last thing, this is where you can send the email to notify paypal: Fake PayPal emails or spoof websites If you received what looks like a fake PayPal email, or you've come across a spoof PayPal website, please report it to us by forwarding the original email or URL to [email protected]

Dear Readers,

In the past few days, some of you may have received fake PayPal emails, stating that there is a charge for $199.79 authorized to PINZOO Instant PIN.

We are PINZOO.com and be assured that you have not been charged by us or PayPal as there is no actual transaction.

Neither PINZOO or PayPal sent you this email. This is a "phishing" email sent by spammers. Numerous successful PayPal stores have been the target of these recent spoof emails attempting to gather information from PayPal customers. The email address [email protected] is what we use to provide support for our customers but the phone number on the email is invalid and the links will lead you to bogus websites, mostly overseas.

Please forward that email to [email protected], then delete it. Pay-Pal's fraud prevention department is aware of these recent spam emails and is working diligently to stop them. Also visit Pay-Pal's Suspicious Activity Page for more information and how you are protected against potential unauthorized activity.

We apologize for this inconvenience, we are victims of these spammers as well

Our toll-free number is 1-888-697-4696
You can reach a live representative from 9am to 6pm PST, 7 days a week

Edwin Janaslani

Yes, I just received such request, whilest I did not do any transaction via PAYPAL to my knowledge in the last 3 months.

What to do: I always keep my paypal-account at 0 (zero) balance. When using PAYPAL, I make the payment via credit-card. For the given request , I contacted PAYPAL, via NORMAL HTTPS access,

using only the paypal login (not the link given in the message/request).

Further I logged in to Paypal, my account, and noticed nothing wrong.

I do noting else, until answers from paypal.

that is all.
