Dead!!!! As In No Sound Dvd Tray Will Not Open

Control unit (DVD player seems to work EXCEPT that the DVD tray refuses to open (makes whirring noise, then stops). No sound from speakers at any vol level from any source (AM, FM, TV input, Aux input). As if the amplifiers in the subwoofer box are dead
