I replaced the belt to get the door to open now it makes a grinding noise and doesn't fully open or close. From my limited view the gears seem to okay and no visible obstruction. Is there something im overlooking?

The sound you're hearing is the electric motor that operates the door. The motor is simply turning on and off, which creates a clicking noise.
