Secondary Chain On My Schwinn Meridian

I'm trying to find the specs for my secondary chain on my Schwinn Meridian. It broke. So far I've learned that it's a 50 link chain but I want to make sure the size is right. Also am I going to have to buy a longer chain and the tool to shorten it?
