I Can't Read The Characters On My Skype, I See Squares Instead Of The Letters.

Hello, my name is Alonso. I try to use Skype. It has given me trouble since day 1. First, I was not able to add contacts. It took them months to fix that. Then today, after video and chatting with my Brazilian friend, suddendly instead of alpha caracthers I see squares like this _04;_04;_04;_04; but larger and not black, white. I would like to try to find out what is that about? I really don't understand, and now I can't do nothing on my account. Please, help! Thank you kindly.
