Here are some possible reasons why your Snapper 500Z mower will not move when you push the steering forward or backwards:

The blades are engaged. Make sure that the blades are disengaged before you try to move the mower. The blades can be disengaged by pulling the safety lever.

The transmission is not in gear. Make sure that the transmission is in gear before you try to move the mower. The gearshift lever is located on the right side of the mower.

The drive belt is slipping. The drive belt is what transfers power from the engine to the wheels. If the drive belt is slipping, the mower will not move. You can check the drive belt for wear and tear. If the drive belt is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

The wheels are locked. The wheels on a Snapper 500Z mower can lock if they are not properly lubricated. To lubricate the wheels, you will need to remove the wheels and apply a light coat of lubricant to the axles.

The brakes are engaged. The brakes on a Snapper 500Z mower are engaged by pressing down on the brake pedal. Make sure that the brake pedal is not pressed down when you try to move the mower.

If you have checked all of these things and the mower still will not move, you may need to take it to a qualified technician for further diagnosis.

if your riding lawn mower won't move forward or reverse, the problem could be caused by a dead battery, clogged fuel line, malfunctioning transmission, a broken belt, faulty spark plug, or damaged or worn-out tires.
