Will A Camcorder Dcrsx44/l Work In Cold Conditionns

I purchased a sony camcorder in new york in march 2011 I used it did every thing correctly it was cold on returning to australia and downloading nothing I lost everything no films can you give me any reason because I will be going to alaska shortly and I do not want to take any chances on your product , Note I have been trying out the item and it is working fine in reasonable conditions but I still a,m weary on the cold Daniel
