Immediately change your password. Run your anti-virus and anti-malware software. If you don't have any, try some free, but safe ones like AVG anti-viruse and Malwarebytes to scan and make sure something hasn't infected your computer. You may also want to try Spybot Search and Destroy, which is also free. After running these scans, if anything is detected it might be the root cause of your problem. If nothing major is detected, then you may have accidentally clicked on a link to a site that stores and steals information. If the email that is being sent out is simply a few words with a link, to your contacts, warn them that this is a phishing scam and to not click on the link and if they have, to change their email passwords right away.

Once you've ensured that there is no malicious software on your device, and you've changed your password, just be careful about clicking on email links, even from friends, as it may not be them. Espcially if it is something short like 'Hey, you have to check this out-" and then a link. Those are called phishing and can steal your information and the information of your contacts as well. Be careful where you browse, make sure you have some good protection on your device, and you should be good to go. Don't worry.
