What Would Cause My Pull Cord To Not Catch Anything?

Damaged Recoil Starter Assembly: The most likely culprit is a damaged or worn-out recoil starter assembly. This can happen over time with normal wear and tear or if the unit has been dropped or mishandled. When the recoil starter assembly is damaged, the cord will not be able to catch and pull the engine over.
Disengaged Flywheel Brake: Another possible cause is a disengaged flywheel brake. If the flywheel brake is not engaged, the engine will not turn over when the cord is pulled.
Engine Seized: It's also possible that the engine has seized up, preventing the cord from turning it over. This can happen if the engine has been run without oil or if it has overheated.
Faulty Spark Plug: A faulty spark plug can also prevent the engine from starting. If the spark plug is not providing a spark, the engine will not turn over when the cord is pulled.
Fuel Issues: Finally, fuel issues can also prevent the engine from starting. If there is no fuel in the tank or if the fuel is old or contaminated, the engine will not start.
NOTE: To determine the exact cause of the problem, you should try troubleshooting the various components listed above.
