Pay As You Go Card

I dropped verizon early due to unresolved problems.. my contract ends 7/2012. Can I actiate my palm pre plus with a pay as you go card or something equal? My palm Pre Plus STILL has the 1.45 version it never updated. This was one of many issues I had! A sales rep. said I should be able to get a pay as you go card.. If so, how. Also will my Palm pre plus EVER be updated? If so, when and how? The Palm Pre 2 came out the day after I got my phone! Nice of them to tell me, huh? Thanks, Jan W.
