No Cellphone Service

I called Verizon customer service earlier today, with my neighbor's cellphone, who also has Verizon service and lives in Mebane. The customer service rep told me it was a Verizon issue in my area, Mebane, NC and they had been working on it since this morning. She said it wasn't my individual phone. I was wondering why my neighbors phone works and mine doesn't. Also when is my service going to be fixed?
