Need Question Answered

hi i had a question about getting paid for having videos on youtube... i just wanted basic info on payment and or required viewson said video... also about music rights my videos would be music covers of popular music ( ie boyce ave. and Alex Goot ) would i need approval from the artist themselves or does youtube cover the rights?
