Nikon COOLPIX P300 Reviews
Anonymous-79561.... October 17th, 2012
I purchased a Nikon Coolpix P300 in October 2011 in the UK, after its first outing I found that in Photoshop the quality of the picture rapidly degraded even with slight enlargement..
I contacted Nikon Help Line and sent some samples, in the event they advised that I send the camera back to them, they sent all the paperwork for this to be done at no cost to me, which is a plus in their favour, I received the camera back after a couple of weeks with a reply that the camera worked within Nikon's specification!
On the second outing I found that the video shots with indoor lighting gradually went out of focus, not good! I sent a DVD sample of the problem to Nikon, once again the camera was returned to them at their request, I spoke to one of the Nikon team who said they could not duplicate the problem that I was having, I pointed out that the DVD I sent was enough evidence, he then promised to send me a replacement camera, good!
Received replacement and took some shots at a out door concert at night, all ok until it came to videoing fireworks, once again the shot gradually went out of focus, exactly the same issue as the previous camera, not good!
So I sent yet another DVD showing the problem by recorded delivery on 11th September 2012, I heard nothing, so 8th October I sent a letter asking had they received my letter and the DVD, its now the 17th October and still no reply.. Whilst the camera is great for wide angle shots, the photo quality when enlarged and the video issues let it down badly,I can only relate this to my two old 8 meg pix Cannon cameras as a benchmark, enlargement's and video(whilst not HD)all much better, I would love to contact Japan direct, to point out the cameras defects, sadly I have not found this possible, so with Nikon products, all I can say is Buyer Beware!
