While I am not a fan of the support which AT&T U-verse offers online because it is often inaccessible unless you do an online search for it first, I do like the TV help you can get by going to channel 411 with your AT&T U-Verse remote.
  • The first thing you do at 411 when looking for specific help is to press OK. You will have to press OK twice to convince it you don't want to watch the video.
  • Next select English or Spanish
  • In this case you will select Resolve Problems from the on screen menu
  • That will open another menu where you can select Picture Quality/Aspect Ratio (the size of the picture in relation to the screen)  You are looking at picture quality however.
  • You will then have the opportunity to watch a 4 minute video telling you how to reset various issues regarding picture quality including brightness.

Using the back button will take you back to the opening screen and sometimes your last screen watched.  Other times you might have to pull up the guide or enter the channel number.

Another way to brighten the screen picture without having to do all that navigation is do it with your remote

  • Press Menu
  • Select Options
  • System Settings
  • and  using the arrow buttons you will see the picture setting you want to adjust
  • Use the arrow buttons to select continue
  • don't forget to select OK when you are satisfied
