Google Charge

The fraud dept. for my visa has suspended my usage due to a suspicious charge from googe on Friday.  I could lift the hold, but they do not recommed it until I speak to google and possibly find out who the charge originated from.  Can you help? [email protected]

The last thing you want is an unknown 3rd party getting involved with charges to your VISA card.

Do you have all of the information from VISA? Or do you still need to get the exact wording of the charge.  Contact you Visa provider before you do anything else. You need to know the exact billing code which was submitted to Visa by Google.

Knowing that code will enable you to begin to isolate the origination of the charges.

For example, in AdWords the code for Visa would be: GOOGLE ADWORDS. [email protected]  or GOOGLE*GOOG[10-digit AdWords Customer ID]

If you see a charge on your card from Picnik that you didn't authorize, a couple things could be happening:

1. Someone with access to your credit card could have purchased Picnik. Do you have a teenager? Check with them first.

 2. Your credit card information may have fallen into the hands of a criminal.

If it turns out to be #2, you should immediately notify your bank that you suspect your card number has been stolen. After that, notify Picnik through their Google forum and they will gladly refund your money.

If this was through a Google Checkout Merchant, check your Wallet Account for the charge.  If it isn't there, that's a problem, if it is, perhaps it is something you forgot about.

If you rule out all possibilities, immediately ask Visa for a charge-back.

Google is not good about having help phone numbers. Here are a few:

  • 650-253-0000 press 5 for Customer Service or Tech support
  • 650-623-4000 press 9 at the prompt and then 0 at the next for a live person
  • Business Google Customer Service is 800-838-7969
  • You can also go to the Google Contact page but it will not necessarily mean that you will get a fast answer.

Best wishes
