Haier Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Is Loose

The fan slides foward and rubs against housing causing loud grating noise. The fan slides off the rod, should there be something holding it on? Does the whole unit have to be replaced?

The part of the evaporator fan that the motor shaft goes through should have a spring wraped around the out side of it to put pressure from the plastic to the motor shaft.  That is what secures the blade to the shaft. If this is missing you will have to get a new fan blade.
