New Mb & Psu S3000 Still Wont Boot

Hi, can anyone help? I'm going mad. I have an HP Pavilion S3000 PC and one day it just stopped booting. I have replaced it with a new MB, and also a PSU but same fault. My son has same machine so swapped CPU, memory etc, his still works mine has same fault no matter what I do. The one thing I have noticed is that as soon as I plug in the kettle lead it starts without hitting the switch but just sits there. Fan is spinning, CD LED comes on etc. I put my HDD in my sons PC and it boots but not if I put his in mine. Please can some one advise?
