Yes, you can. You just log into your new gmail account and click on the little settings wheel near the top right, then on the drop down menu, choose settings, and on the page it opens up you will see several blue linkes. Click on the link that says 'Accounts and Import'. On there you will see the second option is import mail and contacts from other accounts such as Hotmail. Just clik on the 'Import email and contacts' link and it will open up a window and walk you through the steps of importing from your hotmail account. Good luck!
