Ibm Sytem X 3655 Amber Light On Disk Drive

I have an amber light on a disk drive that came after a random reboot of our IBM System X3655 that's running Vmware 4.1. The issue is, while the drive has an amber light, it's still flashing green as if it's still being access. The DASD is not showing any drive errors so I am wondering if the drive need to be replaced or if its rebuilding ro doing something else.
