Setting the Gap on Your Spark Plug

You'll need a spark plug gauge to adjust the gap on your lawn mower's spark plug. Although many small engine spark plugs require a . 030 gap, this varies depending on the engine type.

Replace Spark PlugService Interval: YearlySpark Plug Gap: .030" (.76 mm)Replacement Spark Plug: Champion RC12YC1. Stop the engine and allow it to cool.2. See Figure 31or 32. Clean the area around the sparkplug.3. Remove the spark plug.4. Check the spark plug gap. It should be .030" (seeFigure 31 or 32).5. Reinstall the plug into the cylinder head. Tighten theplug to 180 in-lbs (20 Nm)
