Bought A Philips Tv From Target

I bought a flatscreen tv for my adult son last Christmas from a Target store.  It was a Philips brand tv.  Last month the backlight stopped working on it.  He has had it less than a year.  He called Philips to see about getting it fixed and the serial no on his receipt didn't match the tv's serial number so they said they couldn't do anything.  They said that your store person must have scanned the wrong box when it was bought. He contacted the store and they said they coudn't help him either that maybe Philips put the wrong tv in the wrong box.  Either way his tv doesn't work and he's had it less than a year and his father and I am appalled at they way your store and Philips has treated him as a customer.  My husband is an executive in the manufacturing business and says your store could get Philips to solve this problem for your customer if they wanted to.  He wants his tv fixed or replaced.  We have always shopped at Target and are very disappointed in them not wanting to help him solve this problem.  Will you try to help us solve this problem?
