Purchased Software That Was Supposed To Be Legal And Wasn't

I purchased software that was supposed to be legal and 3 years later, after I registered it way back then, I find out it is not a real license. Of course, the seller isn't calling me back... I found this out because I got the upgrade to my software recently and it won't install. so I called the software company and they verified, the license I have isn't for real.

Within the software, I entered all of my information and hit submit for the registration. I'm guessing they created this disc and did something to it so it makes you think you registered. However, I have been updating right from the software companies website for 3 years. Wouldn't I not be able to do that if I wasn't registered? Sounds like I was taken, next time I'll do more research.

What you're describing is not possible. If you registered it successfully three years ago, it is legal, and you should be able to upgrade the software. The only you wouldn't be able to is if your registration was "lost or misplaced" in the vendor's database.

If you never registered it, then you are stuck with pirated software. It is too late to go after the seller or dispute the credit card charge.
