I believe that there is no problem with your Skype application. It is either related to the webcamera that you are using or your Internet connection. In fact, there are web cameras available online which are perfect for Skyping. You can buy it at Amazon.com and these are the product links:

You should also make sure that your Internet connection is perfect for video calling. DLS connection is the best type of internet connection to avail.
